Long-Term Care

As the population ages, more and more families have concerns about long-term care for their elderlyloved ones. The California Elder Law Center can advise families on what type of care is necessary and help obtain the best care available. Our attorneys have contacts in the long-term care industry and can help clients find the appropriate care. 70% of people age 65 and over will require Long-Term Care sometime during their lives according to the California Department of Health Care Services (Medi-Cal).

Finding Financial Help

Many individuals and families have concerns about how they will be able to afford any type of long-term care. The attorneys at the California Elder Law Center have been helping clients obtain financial resources for years. One program available is Medi-Cal, which is California’s version of Medicaid. Our professionals can guide a client through the qualification and application process for Medi-Cal. The application process is extremely complex and the help of our attorneys can expedite any benefits. As a result, the California Elder law center has developed the Three-Step Process© to guide seniors and their families through the bureaucratic maze to a successful conclusion…thousands of dollars in benefits to pay for Long-Term Care! Recent changes at CMS may lead to expanded benefits for seniors under Medicare where 100 days of care will now include benefits based upon a broader definition than in the past. The rules change all the time…clients and friends of the California Elder Law Center are receiving updates constantly. Be sure to join in on our mailing list in order to be sure not to miss anything.

Help for Veterans

For anyone who served in the military, the Department of Veterans Affairs has several benefits available to aid in Long-Term Care. The VA also provides a pension program for those who served during periods of wartime. Those who served are eligible for further benefits that will help to pay for their care if they need the aid and attendance of another person for daily care issues. The staff at the California Elder Law Center understands the process for veterans and can secure resources for your family. Again, the Three-Step Process© will support and protect your families’ rights and benefits These benefits are focused on care in your home, the goal of all seniors…care in an assisted living or board and care facility. Nursing Homes

As our loved ones age, they will pass through the continuum of care. Early on, they may just need help with chores around their home. As they grow older, the level of care will increase and, at some point, you may be faced with the possibility of placing your loved one in the care of an assisted living facility or a nursing home. The attorneys at the California Elder Law Center understand the levels of care and what your loved one may require. They can recommend good facilities, and can also help you with the finances to pay for such care. The cost of care currently is $7,549 per month, on average, in California. IMMEDIATE benefits are available under many circumstances.
